I am in the West Loop area of Chicago this weekend. Yesterday (Saturday) I taught a full day workshop for the Friends of Astrology. We looked at natal or birth charts in the morning, and went through how to add some older ideas and concepts into chart interpretation. In the afternoon I presented on the Moon phases, both from a natal and predictive (timing) perspective. (If you’re interested in some of my other lecture MP3s, pop over here.)
This morning I am off the clock and catching up on some personal stuff, like exercise! I have client consults this afternoon and then fly back to Toronto on Monday morning.
I find my body gets tight with travel. Between lugging bags (read laptop, books) through an airport, cramped quarters on the plane and an almost extreme focus on being prepped and ready to teach my body often acquires a few new aches and pains when I am on the road.
Given the Moon is in Taurus, a sign of the body, I try to make time to walk or stretch. After an early morning Skype with family back in Oz, I strolled down to Randolph St (and managed to take a snap of the HARPO studios for my Leo sister) to walk out the kinks in my hips and legs.
Back in my room, I reconnected with my travel stretch and yoga routine. It’s fluid, but involves reusing a towel (in place of a mat) on the floor, and either a spare towel or one of my many scarves as a stretching tool.
I recently discovered Yoga With Adriene on You Tube and went through a couple of her videos. This morning’s practice included yoga for hamstrings (for me, always tight and even worse when on the road!) and yoga for upper back.
The slow pace, focus on breath and the intention of mindfulness of yoga is similar to the ‘be here now’ desire of Taurus. It helps me get grounded and centred and reconnect with my body.
Given we are midway the 48 hour window that is this earthy, sensual and tactile Taurus Moon, have you felt the call to reconnect with your body? Improved the quality of the food you’re eating? Booked in for a massage or other body therapy?
