Over the next few days, a number of planets connect across the signs of Scorpio and Capricorn.
Scorpio and Capricorn are both yin or feminine signs. According to Ptolemy, ‘the female sex partakes chiefly of moisture’.
Feminine signs are also considered nocturnal, and have an affinity with the night. These are signs that have a receptive or passive quality, which is different from the yang or masculine signs, which have an active or expressive quality.
These aspects may thus invite an inward focus or shift, rather than require external change or action.
The first Scorpio/Capricorn aspect (Wednesday/Thursday) is between Mercury in Scorpio and Pluto in Capricorn. The second Scorpio/Capricorn aspect (this weekend) is between Venus in Capricorn and Saturn in Scorpio.
The aspect that forms between Scorpio and Capricorn is the sextile. This is an aspect that can bring things together easily.
Scorpio has a sharpness to it – it is the night sign of Mars. Scorpio represents intensity and depth; it is a sign of strategy. Scorpio is the sign associated with truth – it often questions ‘Why?’ or ‘What’s really going on here?’, never accepting things just as they appear.
Capricorn is a sign of structure. This is the night sign of Saturn. Capricorn wants to hold or support, but can only do so if what’s present is valid or worthy. Capricorn plans for tomorrow, and is prepared to apply steady effort over time for lasting results.
Mercury/Pluto
Our first Scorpio/Capricorn aspect is between Mercury and Pluto. Mercury, as planet of information, schedules and communication, is embracing an investigative approach while in Scorpio (September 30 – December 6).
At three different points from Scorpio, Mercury interacts with Pluto. First on October 7, second on November 2 and now for the third and final time on November 20/21. This can bring a resolution to an ongoing matter, or finally reveal the idea or information aka treasure for which you have been digging.
Mercury/Pluto can arouse truth, trust and strategy. Why are you doing what you are? Is this the best plan to achieve your objective? Consider life events now with military precision. You may feel ruthless but you’ll certainly see the deeper picture – and perhaps find ways to more directly say or share what needs to be expressed.
Venus/Saturn
This weekend brings a sextile between Venus and Saturn. Since Venus is heading into her next retrograde cycle (she’ll be in Capricorn until early March 2014), this will also be a three part process, with the second hit in mid January and the third in late February.
Venus/Saturn blends the principle of togetherness (Venus) with the planet of reality (Saturn).
If you’re a dreamer in love, you may need to remove your rose coloured glasses. It’s time to honour what is, rather than what you dream about, where romance is concerned.
Long term topics, and issues to do with security, commitment and duty may arise. For the right partner, extra effort to create longer lasting togetherness can be worth it. If it seems too hard, or you feel the effort is not being equally shared, this may be a clue that you’re both not really on the same page.
As this aspect forms, Venus is in Saturn’s sign, but Saturn is in the sign of Venus’ detriment. This can cause some tension between the two, even as they are pulled together. A relationship matter may surface, but dealing with it may be difficult.
Patience, honesty and a focus on the future can help you make an authentic choice.
Looking Forward
One three part process is in the completion stage (Mercury/Pluto) and one is in the start up phase (Venus/Saturn). You may wrap up one longer project, and move immediately on to the next. A focus on details, schedules or organisation shifts to plans for security, stability and the long term in important relationships.
Are you aware of either the Mercury/Pluto or Venus/Saturn aspects? Do the signs of Scorpio or Capricorn hold an important place in your chart?
