We are in the midst of a rather intense two week period.
Last week included a Mercury/Saturn link, one that demands focus, clear choices and setting limits. It was also a dark Moon week, where the Moon slipped from sight. This closure and completion energy was perhaps stronger than usual due to the eclipse.
Scorpio Eclipse
Sunday – and the Scorpio Solar eclipse – has now passed and the week ahead awaits. The eclipse itself may be over, but eclipse effects can linger. Eclipse season runs until November 17. Remember that since eclipses represent a break in the normal pattern, life can seem off kilter in eclipse season. Thankfully, this is the last eclipse season of 2013.
The Sun and Saturn
The standout event is the midweek alignment of the Sun and Saturn in Scorpio. Like Christmas, this comes but once a year. Unlike Christmas, it’s not a time to take a break or ease off. Rather, with the primary light – the Sun – spotlighting Saturn, he of hard work and diligence fame, this is a week to work.
I won’t lie, effort will be required. That said, your efforts can now be directed towards long term tasks, or substantial projects. Saturn is not light and fluffy so current events may ask you to be serious, thoughtful and mature. As you face choices, decisions or dilemmas, ask yourself these questions:
* Is this (insert pressing thing) really that important? If so, in whose eyes?
* How will what I do now contribute to my future success or security?
* Can I sustain the status quo for the long term?
If you’re at all unclear about why you’re doing what you’re doing – at work, in love, with family – hit the brakes. Saturn demands carefully thought out effort so you must first see how today supports tomorrow. If you can’t, take time out to review.
The Sun and Saturn together are like managers arriving for a ‘review and reassess’ period. This energy can help you create new structure, or make necessary changes to commitments and responsibilities. Sharing the load, or making sure you’re carrying a load of your own choosing, is part of this.
Saturn also prefers order. While order might seem boring, it can help you create a system or foundation to better support your dreams. Time to grow up and honour this saying ‘Put your money where your mouth is’.
Mercury Retrograde
While the Sun and Saturn demand effort, Mercury continues to retrograde. This may help you recommit to something important, but neglected. (Mercury retro + Sun/Saturn has special links to study, writing, teaching, career, communication and family/Dad.)
Mercury is retrograde in Scorpio and thus has a special influence on topics associated with the house in your chart that holds the sign of Scorpio. (Don’t know how the signs and houses in your chart combine? Order this report to find out!)
Cosmic Crazy: Uranus + Pluto
The backdrop to this week’s Sun/Saturn alignment is the next installment of the ongoing Uranus/Pluto square (mid October – mid November). This is a cycle that invites revolution, and dares you – the individual – to challenge the establishment. Question what’s right for you as authenticity is the Uranus/Pluto calling card.
You may be inspired to change or break an old pattern, or destroy something dated so you can rebuild it to better reflect the present. The power of one can move mountains so don’t be shy about expressing your essence.
You can review my thoughts on Uranus and Pluto via these posts.
The Uranus/Pluto cycle has special significance if your birth date is between:
– March 29 – April 3 (Aries)
– June 30 – July 6 (Cancer)
– October 3 – 8 (Libra)
– December 31 – January 5 (Capricorn)
If that’s you, might I humbly suggest a 60min Year Ahead Consult as being especially useful at this time.
If you know your chart, the Uranus/Pluto hotspot is between 9 – 13 degrees of the cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn). If you have any planets in these degrees they are being activated by the Uranus/Pluto square.
New Moon
The difference between this week and last – and the piece of hope that holds the promise of a new beginning – is that we are now in the ‘fresh start’ phase of the Moon cycle. The eclipse was a New Moon, a time to plant a seed or embrace a new perspective.
The eclipse/New Moon was also on the North Node, a karmic point about growth, the future and destiny. To get where you’re going, you may need to leave behind people or places that are familiar.
At heart, this week asks you to look forward.
To see what’s possible (New Moon/Uranus + Pluto). To understand the work required to create (Saturn/Sun). To embrace your own interests as valid (Uranus/Pluto). To dare yourself to move forward in ways that are right for only you. (Uranus/Pluto, New Moon).
To set your course with deep awareness and embrace what’s required as devotion to the flourishing of your soul. (Life!)
May you be blessed in this journey.
Over to you. How’s it in your world at the moment?
