September Astro Forecast: Mercury Retrograde & Key Planetary Influences (Part 2)

September Astro Forecast: Mercury Retrograde & Key Planetary Influences (Part 2)I detailed the first 5 main aspects of September in this post, so here’s your guide to the second half of the month.

6) Mercury retrograde in Libra: September 16 – October 8
So trickster planet Mercury is doing his backwards dance again. I really don’t find this to be a massive problem – sure, there can be some delays or snafus, but Mercury retrograde issues are not terminal, they just require a little extra effort.

One interesting point about this extended Mercury cycle through Libra (basically, all of September + October, with the retrograde happening in late September/early October) is that it occurs in Libra, the same sign where Mars was retrograde in the first half of 2014.

Since Mars is trickier in Libra than Mercury, this may bring resolution, progress or some kind of final result to deals and decisions you first decided upon between December 2013 – July 2014.

If you know your chart, check the house ruled by Libra. Those topics are your areas of focus during this current Mercury retrograde. This can be where you revisit, reorganise and revise life so that things are more to your satisfaction.

Mercury in Libra is the diplomat so negotiate, discuss and debate. Talk things through, even if you go over the same topic more than once.

7) Saturn into Sagittarius: September 18, 2015 – December 20, 2017
Saturn moving signs is MAJOR. Technically, Saturn was first in Sagittarius from December 2014 – June 2015, but once he moves back into Sagittarius now he’ll stay put for 2+ years.

This is such a big shift that I wrote an eBook about the changes, describing what to expect and how you can learn to focus your fire. Buy the eBook here.

I also recorded a short You Tube video, on 5 Things You Need to Know About Saturn in Sag, which you can watch here.

And, I joined Chris Brennan + Austin Coppock to talk all things Saturn in Sagittarius in this podcast.

8) Mars in Virgo square Saturn in Sagittarius: September 24 – 25
This somewhat testy square to Saturn in Sagittarius can highlight some of your big Saturn in Sagittarius themes. Take note of the issues or topics that take centre stage in your life then – they are likely to be some of your big areas for improvement during the longer 2 year Saturn in Sagittarius theme.

That said, Mars square Saturn is frustrating. It’s like you want to move forward (Mars) and have a plan to do so (Mars in Virgo) but then you run into a roadblock or boulder of some kind (hello Saturn!).

Slow down, reassess and revise your plan.

Mars is fast while Saturn is slow, and in this kind of an angle, Saturn will slow Mars down. Mars can push through but extra effort will be required.

Be aware of time, boundaries and deadlines. Make a realistic commitment, or adjust an existing timeline to reflect emerging developments.

If a new opportunity arises, think long and hard about whether you can realistically manage it. Only say yes to what’s in alignment with your deeper purpose. Otherwise say no so you can stay on track.

9) Aries full moon lunar eclipse: September 27/28 (depending on your location)

This is a powerful and total eclipse, as the full moon occurs with the Sun and Moon very close to the node axis. The Moon is with the south node, highlighting release, endings and letting go.

The south node is also a spiritualising influence, which can help highlight matters not of this world. You may be less focussed on material goods, ambition or money and more aware of feelings, relationships and personal goals.

For more eclipses, try my Eclipse Fact Sheet.

The Aries influence highlights the power of the individual, while the Sun and Mercury in Libra symbolise the importance of partnerships, diplomacy and negotiation.

The eclipse ruler is Mars, newly settled into Virgo. A detailed or thorough approach may be the way through matters that arise under the lunar eclipse. A new system, strategy or organisational process will be worth exploring.

Every full moon brings the potential for closure, completion and endings and this potential is heightened at an eclipse. Let go of the past and you’ll create energy and space to refocus on the future.

Consider the house in your chart ruled by Aries – this is the area of life you’re ready to create conscious closure in.
