Mars Opposition Uranus: Embracing Change and Unexpected Breakthroughs

Mars Opposition Uranus: Embracing Change and Unexpected BreakthroughsAs I reflected on how to best describe this week’s dominant aspect, the following words of Aussie poet Banjo Patterson came to mind:

‘There was movement at the station, for the word had passed around
That the colt from old Regret had got away….’

Even if you don’t know the poem, you may be familiar with the movie of the same name, ‘The Man From Snowy River’. (Read the poem in full here.)

It tells of the escape of a valuable colt, who joins ‘the wild bush horses‘ and gallops away with them across  mountainous countryside. The iconic poem goes on to describe the bushmen who muster to chase them down, including one who ‘...bore the badge of gameness in his quick and fiery eye‘.

This is the man from Snowy River, and his wild ride down the mountainside is your inspiration for this week’s Mars Uranus face off.

The man from Snowy River rides like no one else. His daring ride through dangerous bushland is not for the faint of heart. This week you too are encouraged to be game, take a risk and ride like the wind down the proverbial mountainside.

What wild thing could you do that will make you feel truly alive?

You must be bold and heroic as there is no room for second guessing or halfhearted attempts. Freedom is a gift and to those who dare ride so fast – or free – as to send ‘the flint stones flying‘ increased independence shall be your reward.Mars Opposition Uranus: Embracing Change and Unexpected Breakthroughs

The second line from the poem, mentioned above, describes the need for escape, or a jailbreak – ‘the colt had got away‘. Where in your life are you like this wild unbroken colt and need to get away? Has life broken your spirit, and if so, in what ways would you like to break free?

The energy of wild horses, roaming according to their own sense of direction, may inspire you to give your heart its lead. Modern life is full of responsibility, routine and requirements, but this aspect marks this time, this week as one period in which freedom, spontaneity and flexibility must rule.

Change your plans where you can. Escape soul dulling commitments because your spirit seeks greener pastures in which to come alive. Make a daring choice because once your spirit grasps an idea, sticking with the status quo is never a serious option.

This Mars Uranus face off occurs across Libra and Aries, between 15 – 17 degrees. It will bring to some kind of conclusion or turning point the change you have been working towards since last December. The stop and start and to and for of the past six months has been leading you to this week. As Mars danced forward and backwards, your spirit has explored a number of options which brings you to the choice or change you must make now.

An opposition aspect is like a see saw, in which desires and demands flip between seemingly opposing needs. Adjustments are needed to try and create some kind of balance. At the very least, a shift in focus can help.

Aries and Libra will rule a pair of houses in your chart. Each pair or axis of houses represents similar themes. Here’s a quick run down of the topics you may be ready for new freedom around:

If you have Aries and Libra ruling the…..

1st and 7th Houses – relationships, especially the balance between self and others. Are you happy with the balance between me/we, or does it need updating?

2nd and 8th Houses – money, debt, investments, taxes, both yours and those you share with a partner or family. Do you have the financial independence you crave, or do you need to change your habits or an established pattern?

3rd and 9th Houses – travel, learning, ideas, belief, adventure, self expression. Is there something you need to do, say, learn or experience?

4th and 10th Houses – home, family, profession, fame and success. This is the ultimate work/life balance axis. What can you change to create better balance or more harmony?

5th and 11th Houses – pleasure, romance, children, friendships and fun. Are you enjoying some of life’s pleasures, or are you overly focussed on others?

6th and 12th Houses – service, daily routine, wellbeing, escape and retreat. Do you have balance between doing and down time? If not, adjustments are required!

This is a week to do things differently, to try a new strategy or experiment with an innovative approach.

In whatever ways this week’s Mars Uranus face off calls to you, may you find the courage (Mars) to follow your unique (Uranus) passions (Mars again). Only you can set your life on fire, and this week may your chance. Do you dare take it?

And in closing, a question, posed as a quote, from poet Mary Oliver:

“Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?”
