As feisty Mars faces off with unpredictable Uranus life can be chaotic. I know it’s the holidays, but the planets work on their own schedule!
Here in the greater Toronto area, many people are experiencing power outages due to a recent ice storm. This has led to many last minute changes to holiday plans.
While running a few last minute errands this morning we ran into a local business man who mentioned he’d just found out he and his wife – and their three boys, including infant twins – were to host the extended family Christmas dinner, as his in laws are out of power.
This is all very Mars/Uranus – unexpected or last minute changes that cause some chaos, but ultimately add excitement and lead to a shake up of regular routines and rituals.
Doing things differently is one theme of Christmas 2013.With Mars activating free spirited Uranus, it’s less about honouring established traditions and more about putting your own spin on celebrating.
Freedom is Uranus’ calling card and it may be a little harder to swallow your desires (Mars) under this aspect. While this may mean ruffled feathers, it also provides a chance to end or change something that’s not meaningful and start something that is.
The Mars/Uranus opposition is in play between December 24 – 27. It has an accident prone quality so take care if you’re traveling.
A flexible or spontaneous attitude can help you smoothly navigate unexpected developments, but this holidays it’s important to be prepared for surprises. Things may not go as planned, but you’ll certainly have some great stories to tell!
While this aspect can excite energy and passionate action, it also has an argumentative and contradictory quality. Try to keep your temper in check and focus on doing what you want, rather than conforming to external pressure.
We’ve consciously tried to avoid the holiday mall madness, instead choosing to shop locally and support independent businesses (Uranus!). Our holiday plans are on a much smaller scale than usual, which is different, but also means greater freedom to follow our own desires (Mars).
And if Mars is in aspect to Uranus, this means he’ll soon square off to Pluto. That powder keg aspect is due right around New Year’s and I’ll post more on that closer to the time.
So, keep calm wherever possible, but be true to yourself. An authentic approach to celebrating is more important now than ever.
