I’m re-posting my most recent newsletter here, with some additions.
While I have two practical things to share – an online radio guest spot this weekend and my upcoming work trip to Fort Lauderdale FL – it’s hard to go past this wild week.
Sun, Mars, Aries
One of the standout alignments was a Sun/Mars cazimi in Aries. While the Sun and Mars get together every two years, it’s in different signs. In fact, the last time the Sun and Mars did the cazimi thing in Aries was all the way back in March/April 1981. Mars is the war god, and while he is already strong in one of his home signs, Aries, the cazimi quality adds extra heat, passion and drive.
Different places have been touched by this energy in different ways. If you’ve seen any news headlines this week some of the more upsetting manifestations of this energy need no further explanation. That said, a Sun/Mars cazimi in Aries can bring pioneering acts, and New Zealand broke new ground with the passing of a Gay Marriage Bill. They are the first Asia Pacific nation to do so, and only the 13th country in the world to pass such legislation.
Pushing and Passion
At best Mars represents the call of passion, the conviction to stand up for what’s right, and the courage to know your own self. My wish is that how ever you experienced the energy of this week, it becomes fuel for the fire in your belly. Personally, I’ve been pushing through large scale projects. While things aren’t quite where I’d hoped they’d be at week’s end, I can see that progress has been made. Not only am I further down the road than I was a week ago, I’m also deeper into my self.
Radio This Weekend
If you’d like to step into the cosmos for a bit, I’m a guest on Heather Horton’s online radio show this weekend. It’s Saturday night eastern time, which is Sunday morning in Australia. All the details are here.
Teaching and Travel: Florida
Now that my gorgeous wedding is a lovely memory, it’s back into the thick of work, which for this Sagittarius MC, also means travel + teaching. My first professional adventure for the year is set for May 2 + 4, in another tropical spot – Fort Lauderdale, Florida. All the details are here.
Slowing Down and Taurus
And, to reassure you that things are slowing down, cosmically at least, the Sun has just entered Taurus, and will shortly be followed by Mars. Since Taurus is a grounded earth sign, whose primary focus is pleasure, the next four weeks are likely to bring time to take it all in, whatever ‘it’ may be for you.
Astrology Sessions
I do have some openings for chart consults this coming week, and into May. If you’d like to book and prefer not to wait for an appointment, now’s an ideal time. My services are listed here, or you can send an email enquiry to admin@dreamsastrology.com
I’d like to leave you with some poetry which I know is oh so Pisces of me. The final line of this snippet of the poem ‘Morning’ by Mary Oliver represents the nature of Taurus, and may inspire you for the next few weeks.
“….The cat stretching her black body from the pillow.
The way she makes her curvaceous response to the small, kind gesture.
Then laps the bowl clean.
Then wants to go out into the world
where she leaps lightly and for no apparent reason across the lawn,
then sits, perfectly still, in the grass.…”
UPDATE
To go into a little more detail, the Sun and Mars were together in Aries in in March and April 1996, however they didn’t get quite close enough to form the cazimi condition, which they did in both April 2013 and late March/early April 1981.
March 1996 did see a horrible mass shooting, at Port Arthur, in Tasmania, described as one of the deadliest ever by a single gunman. I know the gun laws debate has been front and centre in the US of late, and while I don’t profess to understand all the legal intricacies, this vimeo, highlights some excellent points about the influence gun legislation can have. In the aftermath of the Port Arthur tragedy Australia implemented tough new gun laws, and it does seem to have made a real difference to gun related crime.
How was this week, and Sun/Mars cazimi, for you?
