September 23 represents a midway point for the Sun, who is now half way between his Summer peak and Winter low.
At this time of the year, the Sun enters Libra and the equal length days and nights reflect the themes of balance and harmony Libra symbolises.
The Pagan Wheel of the Year turns, for those in the southern hemisphere, from winter to spring; for those in the northern hemisphere, from summer to autumn.
It’s a time of transition and change.
Libra is the sign of the scales, which represent justice and equality.
While this link to harmony is often connected to relationships, it’s under the Sun’s passage through air sign Libra, from September 23 – October 22, that your mind turns to intellectual concepts like choice and thought.
As humans, our minds and thinking processes set us apart from the rest of the animal kingdom. We wonder about what’s right, what’s wrong and what it means to be part of a team.
This is the Libra experience, of working with others to create positive change for the good of many.
Libra is also one of the home signs of Venus, aka Aphrodite.
Mythological Venus was a love goddess, but rather than the sweet and innocent profile she has today, Venus in myth was full of desire and prepared to do almost anything to get what she wants. While Libra is a sign of connection and working with others, the underhand side of Libra speaks of subtle manipulation to satisfy individual desires. This is where naughty Venus can play a role.
As it’s the Equinox, the cosmos also brings a reminder to create balance and harmony in key areas of your life.
In 2015, at the Equinox we also have Mercury retrograde in Libra adding extra emphasis to the Libra topics in your chart.
Using solar or sun sign astrology, aim for new equilibrium in these areas of your world. Also, because of the Mercury retrograde these are the best areas of life to revise, refresh and reorganise.
