Mercury, the planet of communication, is retrograde until Easter. This relatively common occurence gets a lot of bad press amongst astrologers: don’t travel; don’t sign anything; don’t make any major decisions; etc. etc. As far as I’m concerned, it’s not a reason to stop living and do nothing; life and the show must go on.
However, in my personal experience, things do tend to go awry when Mercury is giving the illusion of moving backwards in the heavens, so forewarned is forearmed. It’s a good idea to back up your computer, have any car niggles checked out and to double check all important arrangements, meetings, interviews and follow up snail mail, emails and phone calls.
What I believe is the key to understanding Mercury retrograde is that during the three-week retrograde period, you don’t yet have the full story and more information usually comes to light once Mercury turns direct. It’s also a great time to do research and to reassess, rework, rethink, revise, reimagine. So slow down the pace, kick back and relax and contemplate life and work. Be in touch with someone from your past and enjoy leisurely get-togethers with family and friends.
You could do worse than heed the words of the ever-wise Winnie the Pooh: “If the person you are talking to doesn’t appear to be listening, be patient. It may simply be that he has a small piece of fluff in his ear.”
