Venus is in one of her home signs, Libra, from October 28 – November 22. This bodes well for all kinds of Venus things. (In 2014, Venus is in Libra between September 29 – October 23.)
Since each planet has both a general meaning – for Venus, think love, beauty, togetherness – as well as a chart specific meaning, it’s important to highlight what’s what before you interpret.

From a general perspective, Venus being in her own sign adds vitality and oomph to all love, beauty and bonding concerns.
To personalise this energy, you need to identify what Venus ‘rules’ in your birth chart. Which houses are ruled by her signs, Taurus and Libra? In which house is Venus placed for you?
These life areas are the ones getting a boost as Venus dances to her own tune in the next few weeks.
Venus in Libra is like a reprieve. Libra falls between Virgo, the sign of Venus’ fall, and Scorpio, a sign where Venus is in detriment. Both these signs have a way of operating that clashes with Venus expressing her essence.
In Virgo, dealing with details and practicalities can interfere with Venus’ diplomacy and tact. In Scorpio, the need to discover buried truths and explore power can interrupt Venus’ desire for harmony and bonding.
But in Libra, Venus encourages open conversation and the tactful expression of ideas and desires. Design and all kinds of pretty things are highlighted, as is equality and fairness.
I once heard Rob Hand describe houses that share rulership of the same planet as representing areas of life that “interact”. I’ve interpreted this to mean there is a connection or alliance between these areas of life.
For instance, in the Grace Kelly example (which you can review here), Taurus is on the 7 House and Libra the 12. Following this theory identifies connections between these areas of life. Grace Kelly had to leave her home and country, like a vanishing (classic 12 House!) for her marriage (7 House).
Oprah has Libra on the 2, and Taurus on the 9. We might speculate about the connection between 2 House stuff like money, and 9 House affairs, like publishing, sharing big picture ideas or expressing the teacher and gypsy archetypes.
Since Venus is ultimately about sweetness, I indulged in a colourful Smartie or two whilst writing this post. After all, in this little corner of the world, Halloween is around the corner, which means an abundance of bite size chocolate.
Over to you!
How are you adding sweetness to your life?
What houses are ruled by Venus in your chart? Can you see how Venus’ previous visit to Virgo brought more order in these life areas? Are you noticing a sweeter, softer, more compromising energy in these life areas, now that Venus has entered Libra?
