So Queen Elizabeth II has become the longest reigning monarch in Britain. What astrologically might indicate such longevity, and commitment within her career?
There are a few ways to explore this, so here are a few key points from her astrology chart.
Let’s start with the ascendant, which, as the song goes, is a very good place to start.
Capricorn Rising. An earth sign. So some grounding + practicality indicated right away. The next question to ask is ‘Where is Saturn?’ (given that Saturn rules the ascendant in Capricorn).
Saturn is in fixed sign Scorpio, in the whole sign 11th House. There’s our first clue – the ascendant ruling planet in a fixed sign instantly stabilises the chart, and suggests consistency, follow through and reliability. Yes, other factors inside the chart could change this but so far there’s a little theme building.
Next, is it a day or night chart? Day time births highlight the Sun, while night time births highlight the Moon. In this case, night time and the Moon is placed in the fixed sign Leo. (Side note – the Sun is also in a fixed sign, Taurus). This Leo Moon may be the underlying influence to her reign being described as a “golden thread …”
Fixed signs are all about stability, perseverance and seeing things through. They are stayers, and if you need something managed over an extended time frame, pick someone with a few fixed sign bits and bobs in their chart.
I’d then consider the Moon phase, especially for a night chart. In this case we have a first quarter Moon phase. This in and of itself doesn’t really have anything to do with longevity, but it does add a feisty quality that helps motivate and energise the fixed placements, especially that Taurus Sun.
Even though the whole sign 10th House is Libra, the MC itself falls in Scorpio (fixed again). The MC in the 11th Whole Sign house highlights 11th house topics as important to career, which can include community service, working on behalf of the collective and other socially focussed themes. (This is less party person and more social justice type of thing.)
Adding extra longevity to the MC is the conjunction to it by Saturn, the chart ruler. Having the ascendant ruler conjunct the MC is a clear indication of someone who’s life path is about their work or professional commitments. She’s been described as a “rock of stability”, a lovely description of the Saturn/MC/fixed combination.
To add to the already strong emphasis on fixed planets, Mars and Jupiter are also in Aquarius, another fixed sign.
This is a fast and furious look at Queen Elizabeth II’s chart but hopefully it gives you a sense of it.
Do you have any fixed planets in your chart? Do you relate to those topics/areas of life ruled by those planets as being more stable or long lasting?
