You may have noticed that as part of my recent website revamp, I changed the name/url a bit. I dropped my surname. Why you might ask? Well, for a few reasons.
Partly because Surtees is an uncommon name that can be hard to spell. (Though I am very proud of my family, and my family name!)
Partly because if I was starting my website now, in 2014, rather than when I did all the way back in 2002, I’d probably not use my full, real name. Not for any specific reason, just a feeling and personal preference.
Partly because I got married last year. Behind the scenes I am mentally and emotionally exploring the idea of changing my surname, but figured professionally a little simplification was in order.
Partly because kellysastrology.com is a little more obvious in terms of what I do than kellysurtees.com. (Hello SEO!)
Ultimately I am still me, still doing what I love, but hopefully a little easier to find!
What about you? Do you have a website, blog or other professional online presence? Is it connected to your work and if so, do you use your actual name, or a business title? If you are married, did you change your name – why, or why not?
So many things to think on under this Mercury retrograde!
