One of my favourite plane travel treats is magazines. There are so many to choose from in international airports, and so many uninterrupted hours within which to read them – well, if you’re flying to Australia from just about anywhere there are!
On a recent trip I snagged a copy of the latest US Vogue, with Michelle Obama on the cover. The article included a number of comments about her focus on family, health and nutrition, as well as how she and President Obama manage their family life.
Michelle Obama
As I read, I couldn’t help but be struck by the strong Moon themes. Since the piece is pitched as a profile of Michelle, and carried so many classic feminine themes – of family life, of supporting her husband in his career and of her focus on improving food quality in the home, I was curious about Michelle’s chart.
Michelle is a Capricorn, dob Jan 17 1964 in Chicago, IL (no birth time), which is no surprise since President Obama says, “What Michelle has done is to remind me every day of the virtues of order. Being on time…….”
That’s classic Capricorn territory for sure!
In addition, Michelle’s North Node is in Cancer, one interpretation of which describes a life with a focus on family and domestic themes.
Since the North Node is considered karmic, one might even say it’s part of Michelle’s destiny to have an impact on such themes, and perhaps to put family above all else. Given the Capricorn South Node, this represents a flip from an old ‘career first’ paradigm (for her!).
Michelle Obama and the US Chart
But what I really wanted to know was how Michelle’s chart connected to the US chart (Sibley), and whether there was some astro reason to her taking on this ‘Mom-in-Chief’ style role.
Without a birth time, and given the Moon changes signs on the day Michelle was born, it’s impossible to say whether or not she has an Aquarius or a Pisces Moon.
The US Sibley chart has an Aquarius Moon, and it may be through this role – of First Lady – she is able to embody some kind of classic American woman type role. That said, prior to President Obama’s dive into the upper echelons of the political world, Michelle held executive level roles at the University of Chicago Hospitals (hospitals being more of a Pisces thing.)
However, there is one interesting planet connection from Michelle’s chart to the US Moon – that of her Saturn, which, at 22 Aquarius, is 5 degrees off the US Moon, at 27 Aquarius.
Perhaps she’s attempting to provide focus and a sense of responsibility (Saturn) around Moon themes – family and food – while she has the spotlight. Through information and education – which are of course, Aquarius mediums (given the air element!).
Over to you. What’s your two cents?
