Scrolling through Twitter this morning I saw a headline about the Pope encouraging breastfeeding in church. “So Cancer Full Moon!” I thought.
“If they are hungry, mothers, feed them, without thinking twice.”
Last Sunday the Pope conducted a mass baptism, in which he encouraged mothers to feed in church. (See quote above.)A little online digging revealed the Pope first encouraged mothers to breastfeed in public back in December. Coincidentally, that piece was published also with the Moon also in Cancer (aligned with Jupiter, just after the Gemini Full Moon.)
So what’s with all this breastfeeding, babies and food themes? Cancer rules the breasts, as well as the experience of mothering. Cancer is ruled by the Moon, which symbolises nourishment.Whether you’re a mother or not, the archetype of mothering relates to more than just children. It includes all young or needy creatures, people and possibilities under your care. This may include pets or other animals, any person who is in need, as well as the tender dreams you harbour deep in your heart.
The baptism ceremony may also be symbolic. Baptism is when babies are first welcomed into the church. Now I’m not trying to get all religious on you, but the theme of welcoming the young and the new into your circle may be relevant.
How could you extend an invitation to those that may benefit from support, either physically, emotionally or spiritually? The Cancer Full Moon is a time to nourish what’s young, feeble or emerging. Cancer is also a sign about protection, that of taking care of all that is near and dear to – or dependent on – you. A relevant Cancer Full Moon reflection may be to think of what in you needs feeding or nourishment. Are you sitting on a budding idea, desire or dream that could benefit from some TLC? That TLC might include energy, time or action.Love to hear how this week’s strong Cancer – feeding – nourishing – welcoming themes are showing up for you?
