Mars is in Virgo between August 18 – October 4, 2019.
Mars in Virgo is productive and efficient, and abhors waste.
Here’s a snap shot of our world the past few days:
– had a dinner discussion about efficiency and reducing waste, like why it’s important to turn off lights when not in use not just to save on bills but to save energy full stop.
– a de-clutter spree re fussy small bits and bobs. Odd pieces of furniture, dated artwork and random knick knacks that serve no purpose were all donated.
– cleaning frenzy. In addition to standard Mars in Virgo OTT practices like cleaning the baseboards and re-organising the basement, I took things to a new level last night by dusting the walls. Yes, you read that correctly. The walls. In the bathroom no less. (Weirdly our bathroom walls are super dusty.)
Granted I have done some crazy cleaning things, like clearing out the fridge at 2am while jetlagged, but the wall dusting experience takes the cake. (I have to say though, they do look better!)
We also realised our local Home Depot sells the envelope thingy for insulating a water heater and that’s on the to do list for this week.
Virgo is all about being practical, but doing so in simple ways. Of this combination, Ebertin writes, “love of tidiness, endurance in detail work, methodical working……. adaption.”
Order and a minimalist style is preferred.
Ruled by Mercury in its earth incarnation (Mercury’s other sign, Gemini expresses the air element of Mercury), Virgo represents the mind applied.
Virgo is a master analyst and supreme organisational guru. Mars brings the fire and drive to act on said Virgo ideas. If you’ve been caught by a recent obsession (Mars) to create order (Virgo) this would be why.
Mars in Virgo is a thinking Mars. It directs energy towards carefully considered plans, and prefers to act in ways that create tangible change.
For part of the time Mars is in Virgo, Mercury, the ruler of Virgo, is in also in Virgo, from August 20 – September 14. This adds intensity to your Mars in Virgo experiences. Expect to dig until you get to the bottom of a situation. You may find it hard to leave any stone unturned.

– open an unused cupboard and attack all mess and disorder

Mars in Virgo is the ultimate ‘make a difference‘ energy. Virgo wants to help, in a practical, hands on way.
Virgo can assess what’s really needed while Mars provides the determination to Get Things Done. Ideally, the assertive energy of Mars will help you act on ideas inspired by perfection.
However, the Mars in Virgo downside can be that your standards are set so high that you may not believe they are attainable, and thus won’t get started. A Mars in Virgo mantra might be ‘Progress is perfection’.
We have around six weeks of Mars in Virgo in 2019 so there is plenty of time to get healthy, embrace order or routine and generally simplify life.
