The image at the top of the post is the Symbolon card for Sagittarius + Aquarius. It shows the classic leap of faith, which may be what you’re called to do in one area of life now.
Know enough to get started (Aquarius) and trust that your action and intention will carry you the rest of the way (Sagittarius). Years ago I learned this is in fact how some marathon runners prepare for a race.
My ex was an Ironman triathlete. At one point he shared his training schedule for a marathon which, when I glanced over it, I thought odd. The longest training run was about 32kms, even though a marathon is 42km. He explained that the goal was to get strength into the legs, through regular and varied training, (hello hill sprints!) and was not so much about the distance itself.
The theory goes that the energy and excitement on the day, combined with the weeks of preparation beforehand, will help carry you through those final kilometres, the ones you never actually run in training.
‘Weird’ I thought, yet it kind of makes sense. This idea has been an inspiration to me ever since. That regular training or practice – of any goal – will give you strength, either physically, mentally or emotionally, to prepare you for a performance. And that the spirit and energy at show time – or on race day – will help lift you to a new level.
This may be your inspiration when you’re considering a new job. You know you can do 80% of the role and if you trusted you would pick up the rest as you went, you might apply. But if you felt you must have 100% experience or perfect preparation, you might shy away from it.
It might inspire you to make a bold gesture on behalf of your heart. There is risk in everything, especially love. If you have received some positive signals from a special someone, it may pay to put your next big relationship desire out there. You don’t need 100% certainty; you just need to feel you’re on the right track.
This concept inspires me whenever I face a new challenge, or even just during my regular work week, like preparing for a lecture or consult. Every time I begin again there’s a little fear or uncertainty. I embrace this, as it helps keep me honest and on my game. Worry that I might make a mistake is what drives me to double check, follow up or review one more time (Aquarius).
But it also requires a leap of faith (Sagittarius). It asks that I trust in my training, intention and past experience, and allow what will come of today’s adventure to be what it will be. Outcomes are often out of our control, but preparation and practice, that’s all on us.
