Venus is the planet which rules women. Two days ago, on Tuesday 12th July 2016, Venus entered Leo, the sign traditionally linked to royalty and heads of state.
On Monday 11th July 2016, Theresa May became leader of the Conservative Party and two days later on Wednesday 13th July 2016, she was signed in as the new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. Timely for Venus’ entry into Leo as another woman takes on a top position in world power.
One In, One Out
Theresa May is a Sun Libra (b. October 1st 1956), the same sign as David Cameron (b. October 9 1966), the Prime Minister who’s departed Downing Street this week. What’s interesting about this astrologically is that Jupiter, the planet often linked to success in astrology, is gearing up ready to enter Libra on September 9th 2016.
This is important because Jupiter, ruling opportunity and growth, takes 12 years to circuit the zodiac and spends approximately one year in each of the 12 star signs. Jupiter’s move into Libra was always going to be big news for individuals born with the Sun in Libra and it’s happening already. This could also be due to Venus’ prominence this week in the regal sign of Leo because Venus is Libra’s ruling planet.
So with regard to May and Cameron, the first Libra takes on one of the most important roles in the UK and the second Libra moves on to pastures new. Jupiter rules freedom and expansion. One in, one out and the Libra scales remain balanced. Or do they?

We have no time of birth for Theresa May but it’s already been pointed out that her chart has some similarities to the first female Prime Minister in the UK, the late Margaret Thatcher (b. October 13th 1925), yet another Sun Libra. Libra is after all the sign of the diplomat, the negotiator and politics is one career where Libra will do well, as long as they have a tough side to their character.
Margaret Thatcher was born with three planets in Libra, the Sun (identity), Mercury (communication) and Mars (action). But more importantly with an accurate time of birth, we know she had Saturn (authority) in Scorpio (power) on the Ascendant (self). Here was a woman who ruled with an iron fist.
Thatcher’s Moon was in regal Leo and at late degrees Leo her Moon was conjunct her early degrees Virgo Midheaven, the point in the chart which represents your career and vocation. She was born to be famous. Her Moon was conjunct Neptune in Leo, the planet of devotion, which often brings mass appeal (or alternatively delusion).
Theresa May was also born with Saturn in Scorpio, a powerful placing for the planet of authority and it’s likely that she too has her Moon in Leo but in her chart it’s probably conjunct Pluto, Scorpio’s planet (depending on time of birth). Theresa May was born to be a powerful woman. This is confirmed because Theresa May’s natal Venus is also in Leo, adding more strength and confidence to her feminine planets, the Moon and Venus.
A Timely Prediction
I had a glance at this week’s horoscope I’d written for Libra. It began:
I hope our new Prime Minister is taking note. With Jupiter lighting up her sign from September onwards, this is one Sun Libra who’s on the rise.
