Beyoncé's Birth Chart: Exploring Her Leo Mars and Virgo Sun

Watching this You Tube clip of Beyonce’s half time show at the SuperBowl prompted me to review her chart. There is a C rated birth time of 10am for Beyonce, according to Astrodatabank.

In this instance, planet-in-sign placements are the focus, as are aspects and of course the Moon Phase.

Beyonce has the Sun in Virgo, which can show a strong work ethic, and desire to be productive. Virgo is known for having high standards, which Beyonce does,as mentioned here,in this article from The Atlantic.

Beyonce was born during the crescent Moon Phase, when the Moon emerges from its darkened state at the New Moon and reveals what’s been happening behind the scenes. This describes a life path of new beginnings, reinvention and the pursuit of new challenges. It’s an onwards and upwards them, where too much routine or repetition gets boring.

Like Aussie swimmer Ian Thorpe, Beyonce has a stellium of planets in Libra, including Mercury, Saturn, Jupiter, Venus and Pluto. Of all these planets, the Venus in Libra is especially potent – strong in its own sign, and intensified by an applying conjunction to Pluto. This gives her intense feminine power, and the ability to create win/win situations. With the Pluto influence though Beyonce wants to be top dog.

Beyonce has the Moon in Scorpio. She’s private about her personal life, and has spoken of how she adopts a persona when performing. This is similar to Jodie Foster, who also has personal planets in Scorpio.

But watching Beyonce on stage, it’s clear her Mars in Leo runs the show. Mars is conjunct the North Node, the karmic point of fate, and is the oriental planet (the one that rises just before the Sun). Mars and the North Node are arguably in the most regal part of Leo – the first 6 degrees, which are influenced, through the terms, by Jupiter.

Her mane is hard to miss, with head-shakes and hair flicking almost part of the show. Mars is comfortable and ‘in his element’, being a hot, dry planet and placed in a hot, dry sign. When in any kind of leadership role, especially where there’s heat, action and fire involved, Beyonce is literally in her element.

Mars in Leo has staying power and needs a physical outlet for those animal instincts – remember, Leo is a sign of the beasts. On stage, it seems Beyonce has found her territory.

What do you think – do you have Mars in Leo? Know someone who does? What’s your take on Beyonce + her chart?
