This week’s main event is the Lunar Eclipse [15 Aries 05] which is currently building in the heavens and will be exact on October 8th at 11:51 BST.
You can already see the Moon swelling in size every night as it grows bigger and moves closer to it’s Full Moon phase which this month also happens to be an eclipse.
Eclipses are game-changers when the scenery shifts and you look at your life from a different perspective. This change is already underway and one of the emerging themes of the week is letting go.
You often reach this point when you come to a crossroads, a T-junction in life and you can’t clearly see the way forward. It’s as if you’re faced with an impossible choice or you’ve hit a dead end and all you know is that something’s got to give. You recognise you’re on the verge of a difficult decision or you feel scared to let go, not knowing whether life will guide you.
Cosmic Crossroads
At this week’s eclipse, there is a planetary crossroads in the heavens as an aspect called a T-square is the focal point. A T-square looks like a T-junction with the Sun and Venus in Libra at one end of the T, the Moon and Uranus in Aries at the opposite end of the T and staring at them both from the middle but a distance away is Pluto in Capricorn.
The Uranus-Pluto square is the rocket fuel in this Lunar Eclipse and the Uranus-Pluto symbolism backs up the eclipse symbolism. Things that have been eclipsed or hidden break out requiring you to confront or deal with them or you decide to take action and close a door that ‘eclipses’ someone or something in your life.
Basic Uranus-Pluto symbolism is ‘out with the old and in with the new’; you sweep away dead wood to clear space for new energy to come in. Detoxing, decluttering, composting and regeneration are all Pluto themes and Uranus adds change, revolution and reinvention. Pluto advocates letting go of the past and Uranus embraces the future.
This eclipse is especially powerful if you have planets or angles in your chart between 14-17 degrees of the cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn) but it’s helpful to know where the eclipse falls to see which areas of your life are due a ‘sweep out/sweep in’ mentality.
Here are the key elements depending on your Star Sign (or Sun Sign). Read both your Sun Sign and your Ascendant for the complete picture:
- Aries: Personal goals & self care; relationships & one-on-one partnership
- Taurus: Retreat & recuperation; work, service, health & fitness
- Gemini: Friends, groups & networks; self-expression, creativity, children & love affairs
- Cancer: Career & vocation; home & family
- Leo: Travel & exploration; busyness close to home, neighbours & siblings
- Virgo: Other peoples’ money & joint resources; personal possessions & values
- Libra: Relationships & one-on-one partnership; personal goals & self care
- Scorpio: Work, service, health & fitness; retreat & recuperation
- Sagittarius: Self-expression, creativity, children & love affairs; friends, groups & networks
- Capricorn: Home & family; career & vocation
- Aquarius: Busyness close to home, neighbours & siblings; travel & exploration
- Pisces: Personal possessions & values; other peoples’ money & joint resources
Aries v. Libra/Me v. You
I would add that there are common themes with regard to this eclipse because of the signs involved. Aries v. Libra is a classic me v. you scenario. How to assert your own needs whilst at the same time ensure others are looked after, the game of give and take, ‘self-centred’ behaviour v. what’s fair and just for all. Getting the balance right in your key relationships isn’t easy as the Libran scales constantly dip and realign.
If you are stuck at a crossroads or faced with a difficult decision, know at least that you’re in flow and all is as it’s supposed to be. See who or what steps in mid-week to act as a signpost or signal. You don’t have to act immediately and sometimes it’s best to wait a few days or even a week after an eclipse before taking action.
Remember too that eclipses aren’t solely date-specific and what they’re highlighting for you may play out over the next six months or so. Right now, there may be more questions than answers but if you’re prepared to let go and allow life to guide you, you’re no longer stuck at a crossroads but moving in a new direction.
