Typically, consideration of an election result would start with the chart of the person in power. The question to start with is ‘Will this person lose?’ and if so, I’d then go on to see who might win or take their place.
However, the birth data on Harper is dirty at best, with their being some speculation even to the date! General consensus is April 30, 1959 with a morning birth time, but there is no documentation that confirms this.
So, rather than waste time on a chart with dodgy data, I’ve decided instead to look at Justin Trudeau’s chart and consider what’s been going on in his chart throughout the campaign, and how this looks for the election itself.
This is a bare bones, ‘Just the facts!’ approach, but here’s a few thoughts about Justin’s natal chart.
- mutable signs lead the way. He has Virgo rising, plus Mercury (the ascendant ruler) and Jupiter in Sagittarius, and Saturn in Gemini. This can show a flexible or adaptable quality. This may make him open to working with others, but also means he may change his mind a fair bit.
- Career wise, his MC is in fixed sign Taurus, bringing stability, with the MC ruler, Venus in Aquarius (another fixed sign) and on the North Node. The MC ruler is in the 6th House, perhaps indicating a desire to be of service. This doesn’t have to be via political life, but certainly highlights a theme of supporting others, or wanting to help out. (This could also be implied via the Virgo asc.)
- Whole sign house wise, Gemini rules the 10th House of Career (which can be separate from the MC). Saturn sits high in his chart, crowing it, showing dedication and focus, but especially regarding communication. The 10th WS house ruler, Mercury is in the 4th House, linking themes of life direction (10th house) to family (4th House) – yes, his Dad was a past Prime Minister of Canada.
- Under all this, Justin has the Sun in Capricorn and the Moon in go get ’em Aries AND in the dynamic first quarter phase. I suspect he can be feisty and aggressive when required! Aries Moon people can be bold leaders, unafraid of a fight and competitive, though they are often competitive with themselves rather than against others. Combine that with his Virgo ascendant and he expects a lot of himself.
- Earth is grounding – with Virgo rising and the Sun in Capricorn he’s not afraid of hard work. Existing PM, Stephen Harper, is most likely a Taurus (another earth sign). The difference is that Trudeau is cardinal earth, which is more interested in change and progress, while Harper is fixed earth, which resists change and instead focuses on repeating what’s worked in the past. For Trudeau, the Earth + Fire combination (his Aries Moon is fire) creates a balance between initiation (fire) and finishing things (earth).
- His Aries Moon is active + busy – applying to oppose Uranus in Libra and trine Jupiter in Sagittarius. This is active, lively and unconventional. Talk about fresh ideas and thinking outside the box. He’s run on a campaign of change, and with this excitable combination of planets he will certainly do things differently. If you are genuinely bored or frustrated with Harper and want a fresh influence, this combination alone promises to deliver it.
And a few ideas on triggers to Trudeau’s chart in 2015:
- his secondary progressed (SP) Moon phase is third quarter, which is a ‘Go For It NOW!’ kind of phase. One can feel time is running out, and they put everything on the line to pursue a personally meaningful goal, dream or passion. The SP Moon is in the sign of Scorpio which is fairly intense and can be heavy, though that’s more likely to be an inner experience rather than something we’d see through the public lens.
- Jupiter has recently entered Virgo, his 1st House/Ascendant sign. I wonder if that times with an improvement or shift in his campaign? Jupiter entered Virgo on August 11, and will remain there until September 9, 2016. Huge focus on personal identity, growth, refreshing one’s appearance, attitudes, habits and behaviours. This may be an influence that creates a Justin 2.0 version, like an updated or more polished individual, compared to his past.
- He won’t escape comparison to his father, especially in 2016, thanks to Saturn in Sagittarius moving through his 4th House of Home, Family and History, and exactly over his Mercury at 12 Sagittarius. His family legacy is ever present, but with Jupiter in Sagittarius in the 4th House at birth he can turn this to his advantage. Saturn/Mercury highlights communication, decisions, deals, documents and paperwork. Given the importance of Mercury in his chart – it rules his ascendant – it also highlights a major change in responsibilities, and the need to adopt a more mature mindset.
- It’s all about Uranus for Justin in 2015. His birth pattern involving the Moon, Uranus and Jupiter (technically known as an easy opposition) is being triggered by Uranus in June and October – November 2015, as well as January – February, April – May, and October – November 2016. Massive changes ahead for him. If he is elected, this angle, occurring across his 2nd and 8th houses, highlights finance, the economy and especially tax, pension and debt issues. And, if he is elected under such a revolutionary series of transits, expect him to shake things up big time.
- His SP Sun will sextile his natal Jupiter in 3 years, 2018. This has a quality of growth, progress and meaning. Elected or not, this will be a huge influence in terms of him fulfilling some of his major personal and professional goals.
- At 43 years of age, Trudeau is in an 8th house year by profection. This is the natal house of his Aries Moon, which is the sect light of his chart (night time chart). This could be a lovely activator for potential + possibility for him. Given it’s 8th House though there will be extra stress (at the very least personally). It also reinforces the financial themes triggered by the Uranus transits.
Over to you! Do you follow politics? Did you vote? What are your thoughts on this chart, or the Canadian Election in general?
