Saturn's Influence on Aging & Time: An Astrological Perspective

Saturn s Influence on Aging & Time: An Astrological PerspectiveAt the chiropractor this morning, my normally aloof chiropractor started sharing about his weekend, and how he and his wife had been discussing the aches and pains associated with getting older.

This struck as a bit of an odd conversation, but I went with it. It was only after I got home that I realised, ‘D’oh!’, Moon/Saturn today!*

In astrology, Saturn represents time. Cycles of Saturn, or triggers to Saturn, can bring reminders of the passing of time.

This week, Saturn is triggered twice, first by the Moon, then by Venus.

You may notice depth, reconnect with the past or become aware of physical shifts.

You may be aware of your body aging, with all that entails, good or bad.

You may realise you’ve reached the end of something, or are ready to commit to a new path.

All these crystal clear insights – whether you like them or not – are Saturn.

Periods when Saturn is active serve to remind us that time is finite, and thus limited. In turn, this can reveal the best ways to spend your oh so precious time. You may be in a personal Saturn cycle, based on the planets in your chart. (Not sure? Book a chart consult to find out!) Or, you may simply tune into the triggers to Saturn that occur as part of the astro weather.

The Saturn/Moon conjunction, in Scorpio (Tues/Wed), highlights reality. This pairing occurs once a month (currently in Scorpio), and can help you see what is and isn’t working. It can be a day for cutting back, refocussing on the basics or having firm but necessary conversations. Time is reassessd, and your schedule reorganised, ideally in more manageable and meaningful ways. Saturn abhors excess or waste, so do what’s essential now.

I explore the current Saturn in Scorpio cycle in depth in my eBook available here.

The Saturn/Venus opposition, across the Scorpio/Taurus axis (Thur/Fri) can highlight the truth in a close relationship. Love comes with limits under cycles like these, so take your time before making a commitment. The see saw like energy of the opposition can indicate a back and forth energy, as if your heart is trying to create new balance, between commitments to self and responsibilities to others. Trust and loyalty are highlighted so make the effort to be there when it counts for the people and passions that matter most.

Even though this week ends with the upbeat and aspirational Sagittarius Full Moon, there may be necessary work to be done beforehand, as Saturn invites you to commit to who or what counts, and distance yourself from people, places or problems that drain you.

If Saturn could gift you with the strength to tackle one concern you’re currently facing, what would you change or improve?

*In case you don’t know, Saturn is associated with bones, and so the symbolism of seeing the chiro on a Moon/Saturn day is especially sweet!
