Understanding the Astrological Day: Sunrise to Sunrise Explained

In Western and Middle Eastern astrology, the astrological or calendar day is a unit of time measured from sunrise to sunrise, or from one local sunrise to the next. Astrologers use the terms solar day and sidereal day to distinguish between the apparent motion of the Sun against the background of the twelve constellations of the zodiac (ecliptic) and the motion of the stars (sidereal zodiac) respectively.

The use of the term astrological day is also found in Indian and Chinese astrology, but it has the meaning of a planetary hour, of which there are 24 in each day.
