Understanding the 12 Zodiac Signs: A Guide to Western Horoscopes

The number of horoscopes depends on the astrological tradition being consulted. In Western astrology, which is based on the positions of the Sun, Moon, and planets at the time of a person's birth, there are traditionally twelve horoscopes, corresponding to the twelve signs of the zodiac. These are:

- Aries

- Taurus

- Gemini

- Cancer

- Leo

- Virgo

- Libra

- Scorpio

- Sagittarius

- Capricorn

- Aquarius

- Pisces

Each of these signs is associated with certain personality traits, strengths, and weaknesses. Western astrologers may also create individual horoscopes for people based on their exact birth date and time, incorporating the positions of all the planets in the solar system.

In other astrological traditions, such as Indian astrology (Jyotish), and Chinese astrology (Bazi), the number of horoscopes can vary. For example, Jyotish divides the zodiac into twenty-seven 'nakshatras', which are similar to the signs of the zodiac in Western astrology. Bazi uses the concept of the 'four pillars of destiny', based on the year, month, day, and hour of a person's birth, to interpret their fate and fortune.
