Energy planet Mars will move through Gemini from May 12 – June 24.
For the most part Mars has no special dignity (strength) or debility (weakness) in Gemini, thus he’s fairly neutral.
For parts of his stay in Gemini Mars will be ‘peregrine’ which means aimless wanderer. A planet that has no special talent or gift, or any particular or pressing problem, can sometimes get up to mischief. As the saying goes, ‘Idle minds are the devil’s workshop’.
Since Gemini is the sign of Mercury, the original trickster, this could be very tricky indeed!
The mutable modality rules the show in Gemini, and planets in Gemini prefer to keep things flexible. Variety is important, and with Mars in Gemini, you may prefer to multi task, or juggle a variety of projects. Save the obsessive specialisation for when Mars is in Scorpio (January + February 2016).
Of course, Gemini is also an air sign. This means motivation (Mars) is encouraged through facts, information or data (air). If you need to start on a project you’ve been procrastinating on, read up on the subject or talk to someone in the know about it. You might be surprised how helpful a few juicy pieces of information can be.
There can be a scattered quality to Mars in Gemini that might make it hard to focus. Opt for short bursts of acitivity then switch topics to keep your interest high. Planets in Gemini can sometimes have a short attention span, though they are great at networking.
The one time Mars gains some dignity in Gemini is when he moves through his own terms. (I’m using Egyptian terms fo the technically minded.) This occurs between June 5 – 16. If you have any typical Mars things coming up – decisions, bold actions or ‘me first’ choices – try to plan them for then.
You can connect to the energy of Mars in Gemini by using the tips mentioned above. If you know your chart, think about the house ruled by Gemini.
Those are the topics or areas of life that are being energised for you by Mars in Gemini. This will also be the area of life where you can expect progress or movement in the coming weeks.
If you don’t know how the signs connect to the houses in your chart, you need this simple beginners report.
For Brooke Shields, Gemini rules her 10th House of Career and her Midheaven. You’ll see the sign of Gemini (2 parallel lines, vertically and horizontally) at the top of her chart.
When Mars moves through Gemini it will move through Shields’ 10th House of Career and activate topics, decisions or opportunities in that area of her life. (Need to refresh the symbols in astrology? Get this free download!)
If you have planets in Gemini, like Shields does, then those planets will also be triggered – activated – by Mars. Time to take action! Mars is only in Gemini once every two years, so do what you can to move things forward around your Gemini house or planets now.
While in Gemini, Mars will link to a number of other planets.
I cover the Mars opposite Saturn and Mars square Neptune aspects in this post. Other aspects Mars in Gemini will make include:
June 5 – 6, Mars sextile Jupiter in Leo
Confidence may be high, or your faith in your own abilities may help you take an inspired leap of faith. It might be a case of ‘go big or go home’ today, as with active Mars and larger than life Jupiter working together, progress is possible on your most exciting plans. Be bold, be authentic, be a motivator.
June 8 – 10, Mars sextile Uranus in Aries
An exciting breakthrough or new opportunity may add spice to life, as the innovative influence of Uranus helps you fight tradition or strike out in a new direction. An unconventional or authentic passion may stir your soul, or you may connect with the courage needed to make a ‘me first’ choice. Doing what’s right for you, especially if it surprises those around you, will be ideal.
