1. Locate Pegasus: Start by looking for the Great Square, which is a significant asterism in the fall night sky. The Great square consists of the four stars that make up the body of the winged horse, Pegasus.
2. From the Great Square, head southwest: Locate Alpha Pegasi (Markab), the brightest star in Pegasus's great square. Draw an imaginary line from Alpha Pegasi through Beta Pegasi (Scheat) and continuing for the same distance past Scheat.
3. Find the Water Jar: Look for a group of stars that resemble an upside-down Y or a water jar; this is the water jar of Aquarius, the Water-Bearer.
4. Explore Nearby Constellations: Once you find Aquarius, take some time to explore other nearby constellations. Aquarius borders Sculptor, Piscis Austrinus, Cetus, and Pegasus.
